Users logged in with a phone number alongside a national ID card, and the app was developed for Android and iOS. Recent government-facing reporting describes VNeID as more than a wallet for digital documents. Baochinhphu.vn says analysts link its rapid rise to high-quality synchronized population data, sustained policy support, and citizen-centric design, while VietnamNet echoes those pillars and argues the app is becoming central to national digital transformation. Baochinhphu.vn adds concrete usage signals: VNeID is now the main login method for major national platforms, supporting nearly 30 million accesses to the National Public Service Portal, 11 million logins to Viet Nam Social Security’s VssID, and over 2 million authentications on the General Department of Taxation’s eTax system. In the same ecosystem, the National Public Service Portal provides access to 4,700 administrative procedures, processed 11.5 million online applications in 2025, and helped save more than VND4 trillion (approximately US$160 million) in social costs.
The “one app for everything” promise becomes clearer in sector rollouts. DigitalInAsia reports that by January 2026, over 34 million electronic health records had been created and integrated into the VNeID national digital identity platform, following a government mandate for electronic health records for all healthcare providers by 2025–2026. Baochinhphu.vn also reports that VNeID facilitated the disbursement of VND33 trillion in social welfare payments to 675,000 beneficiaries. And since September 2025, it says VNeID enabled citizens to submit scanned land-use certificates online for government review, supporting a national 90-day land data cleansing campaign to synchronize 49.7 million land plots with the National Population Database to reduce duplication and inconsistencies.
At the same time, sources describe the remaining gap between ambition and a seamless super-platform experience.
