On the Move: Transforming Vietnam’s Transport System for a Sustainable Future
Vietnam’s Ministry of Transport, seeking to address the increasing demands of urbanization and the urgent need for sustainable transport solutions, partnered with Eurogroup Consulting for a transformative project. The initiative aimed to revolutionize the country’s transport infrastructure and services, making them more efficient, accessible, and environmentally friendly.
The transport sector was confronting numerous challenges, including heavy reliance on motorbikes and personal vehicles leading to congestion and pollution, underdeveloped public transportation systems, and inadequate infrastructure for non-motorized transport. These issues were exacerbated by the rapid growth of urban populations and the effects of climate change, underscoring the need for a comprehensive approach to transport sustainability.
Eurogroup Consulting developed a holistic strategy that encompassed the expansion of public transportation networks, promotion of electric and non-motorized transport options, and implementation of smart traffic management systems. The strategy also included the development of green transport policies and initiatives to foster a shift in public attitudes towards sustainable mobility options.
The consultancy began with a thorough evaluation of the existing transport infrastructure and services, identifying bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement. In collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, Eurogroup Consulting facilitated the design and implementation of pilot projects for electric buses, bike-sharing programs, and pedestrian-friendly urban zones.
